Guitar World has announced the results of it’s ’30 best blues guitarists in the world today’ poll. Throughout June and July, the Guitar World site asked it’s readers for their valuable opinions and today the results were finally unveiled online. More than 60,000 votes were cast making this one of the magazine’s most popular online polls in recent times. Over 70 artists were featured in the site’s long list of nominees, and we are pleased to announce that Erja came in at an impressive 14th in what was a very competitive field. Following closely on the back of Eric Gales at #12 and Warren Haynes at #13. Of course, Erja feels blessed to be in such good company alongside peers and legends from the blues genre such as Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, Buddy Guy and John Mayer to name but a few.
Guitar World says: “Finnish singer-songwriter Erja Lyytinen is one of Europe’s leading blues players and her latest album, Another World, features guest spots from Jennifer Batten and Sonny Landreth, in what is another showcase for her awesome voice and ear for progressive, melodic rock. Not to mention the eminently vocal qualities of her immaculate slide playing.”
